Sync and accounts
Your time is stored on the device first. An account is what carries it between devices, and it's free.
Local first
The Mac and iPhone apps work the moment they open, with no sign-up. Clients, projects, to-dos and sessions are written on the device, so nothing in the path of a tap on Start touches the network, and a timer keeps running through a tunnel, a reboot or a dead connection. Settings → Profile says Local mode while you're in it.
Creating an account
Press Create free account in Settings → Profile. Everything already on the device is uploaded and becomes the account's; nothing is re-entered. Signing in on a second device then pulls it all down, and from there every change made anywhere arrives everywhere within seconds.
The web app needs an account from the start, since a browser tab has nowhere safe to keep your records.
Confirm your email when the link arrives: until you do, you can't sign in on other devices or send invoices.
Offline, and what happens on reconnect
Changes made offline queue on the device and are pushed when the connection is back. Each record carries its own identity from the moment it's created, so a session recorded on a flight reconciles when it lands rather than duplicating.
Devices
Settings → Devices lists every device signed in to your account and when it last synced, so "did that entry make it?" has an answer. Remove a device to sign it out.
One timer, every screen
A session belongs to the account, not to a device. Start on the iPhone, pause it in the Mac's menu bar, end it in the browser; every screen shows the same clock. A Pomodoro's plan stays on the device where you chose the focus block (see where a Pomodoro runs).
Profile and preferences
- Timezone: month-end invoicing runs at 6am in it.
- Theme: system, light or dark, per device.
- Pomodoro: whether a focus block's break is fixed or manual, per device.
- Business: the name, address and tax ID printed on invoices.
- Usage data: whether this device sends anonymous usage events. Nothing you enter is ever included.
Your data
Your records are yours. You can see and correct every one of them in any of the apps, and delete your account from Settings → Account, which deletes them with it. The privacy policy says exactly what is stored and for how long.
